WTF indeed. And this one says "very late". We already have retailers putting up stuff as early as just after Halloween. Some are already taking stuff down now. Strange.

I nominate: “The one I bought.”

Was the motorcycle rider that took the video cited for passing in a no-pass zone?

Was the driver of the motorcycle that recorded the video also cited for passing in a no-pass zone?

The AV should protect the occupants. Everyone/everything outside the AV is on their own to protect themselves. This doesn't mean a free for all for the AV, just setting the priorities.

“the myriad benefits of reducing traffic and pollution are self-evident”

No price check of Wally World? Bummer.

Agreed.

I smile every time I see a little Calvin-like character pissing on the logo of the “other” brand. I think to myself “If you despise that other brand so much, why did you put its logo on your truck?” :-)

“Brand loyalty” is just one of the many marketing Jedi mind tricks that are successful in moving product. The buying public is irrational in so many ways. “Rewards” cards. “Loyalty” programs. “Free” phones with 2-year agreement (and mistakenly labeled as "subsidies"). BOGO proven to be more effective than 50% off,

Aren't "Subsidies" and "Financing" the exact same thing? I guess one difference is in one case the interest and such that you pay are disclosed and in the other they are hidden. But for both you pay for the device over time. No one is "subsidizing" anything.

Subsidy is not the correct term for what the carriers did/do. To be a subsidy, they would need to give me the phone or sell it to me at a reduced price then get the money to cover the total cost from somewhere else—not from me. The term to use is “loan”, “credit” or similar.
