I think it can be ( general bullying coment to someone from the Subcontinent) and as his family is from Pakistan not India it shows the usual level of intelligence from a racist picking a random word to throw at someone. I love the fact that he's barely bothered to reply to her.

If I have a beef with someone who is black, and while insulting them I say “you black asshole,” then I have used their race as part of my insult and that would be racist. Same thing here.

It’s only insulting because she knows that he isn’t one. It’s the deliberate mislabeling + racism that turns what is otherwise an ordinary word into an insult.
