Not sure where you are getting with the EV1 comment, I am not saying the EV1 was not significant for EVs, but it is not a modern EV. As modern EVs use lithium ion batteries which work fairly different from NiMH batteries in the EV1. And the issue is again GM did not want to make the car, it was legislated into

The EV1 was progress at the time, but overall it was highly flawed because it was legislated into existence. Once the legislation was taken away, GM crushed them.

People said the same thing about computer processors too.

All of what you said is true, but that is only the half of it. Our dependence on oil has and will continue to be the primary source of political and economic instability throughout the world. Oil producing countries use it as a weapon, without conscience or thought for the long term effects of such policies.
