Oh I’m sure they will and I’m fairly certain my current car is my last ICE vehicle. My point was specifically to the author saying we only need 125 mile batteries because everyone only commutes 25 miles to work. That ignores every other vehicle use case.

In the last 5-7 years they’ve gotten ranges to 300 miles, with Rivian and Lucid looking to 500 miles within the next 2 years. So you don’t think in 15 years automakers won’t be able to out-range ICE engines?

I see at least two issues here.

Too bad humans never evolved the ability to turn their heads around.

I want to give the moderator one of the high-powered nerf ball guns. Then, if the moderator has to speak to you more than once, *thwack* all of America gets to watch you take a nerf ball to the forehead in real time.

Operating a reciprocating saw on autos/trucks should require a license. There’s a reason they call them demolition saws.

But that’s just it...it’s fun money priced!  I nice priced it assuming the miles aren’t crazy high.  What’s crazy high?  In my book over 150K.

They’ll never notice!

Here’s a tip from a VW owner. If you’re buying a VW old enough to be out of warranty: the minute you get it home, go over to Ross Tech and buy VCDS, and go over to Bentley Publishers and purchase the appropriate repair manual. It’s less a question of if they’ll be necessary, but when.

Get to it ASAP.  Do you have VCDS?  You can check the cam/crank angle disagreement.  Over a few degrees is bad.  My wife’s 2010 passat 2.0T was at 5 degrees when we parted ways with it.

Sure you’ll be fine... Just remind your wife that buying a new engine is cheaper than a divorce.

I just bought a 2008 Audi TT 2.0t for my wife, with what I believe is the same engine. I also purchased all the parts to replace the timing chain and associated gear. The parts are still in the box. Not sure when I’ll get to it. It’ll probably be fine, right?

Selling to a private party with a known issue is dishonest and immoral.

Private party - Yes I would try to disclose all known problems.

Maybe it’s just me, but there’s a difference between selling to a private party and trading in. If I’m trading in a car, the dealer has trained mechanics, readily available diagnostic equipment, and a lift. If I’m asked a question, I’ll answer it honestly but I’m not volunteering them any information. With a private

I think he was more stating the fact that most dealer’s won’t check your oil, not advocating taking advantage of their probable lack of due diligence.

Dang, I get those mixed up sometimes.

David, you are one of my favorites on here, and I say this with much love in my heart, but you wouldn’t know trusty if it bit you in the ass. Perhaps you meant rusty?

I feel pretty good.

The Astro is a trusty machine.

All of the suggestions are bad and the people who made them should feel bad for suggesting them.
