One of your better efforts IMO.

I’m handy with a wrench, I’d pick this up, spend some time on that IMS, check out the liner creep, then have some top down fun. This is getting down to 924/944 territory. Nice Price for me.

FWIW, I have read in a number of places that a) higher-mileage vehicles are less prone to failures (that said, 115k in 22 years may be considered “low mileage”?), and b) the ‘00-’05 motors were 5-10% more prone to failure than the models up to ‘99.

I’ll be standing on my front Porsche screaming from my soap Boxster about how good of a deal this is

I would buy it, totally expecting the IMS to go, and then part out the car. An IMS repair can be a solid $2500.

Hell yeah, for that asking price! Sure, it’s sure to have some (so far) concealed maintenance demons to exorcise, but for under five-grand, I can live with that. I know some good independent mechanics who specialize in German wizardry.

They can. And consumers can be really, really dumb. As long as they only look at the monthly payment, and not the total cost of the sale, which happens quite a bit. That’s why people out in my shop that make $11/hr drive around in $50k trucks.  Just....how?

I bought quite a nice home for $80k at the bottom of the recession. It’s in a loveley neighborhood. I would never pay home cost for a vehicle. If this is how much new vehicles are going to cost, I guess I’ll never own a new vehicle. I’m not payint $1200/ month for a vehicle that won’t be worth scrap by the time it’s

No one is dying to move to the Northeast bud. I think your secret is safe.

Quick anecdote...

It's hip to be solvent.

That is the dumbest fucking thing a person has ever said to me.

Ok hipster

Yet people still buy the Navigator when it’s just an Expedition underneath. And An MDX when it’s just a Pilot.

I have lived my whole professional life in San Jose and Irvine in some of the most expensive housing markets in the country. I’m also from the Midwest, though, and there are still plenty of nice starter suburban areas with homes in the $100k range. They’re generally going to be about 40-60 minutes from large urban

We bought ours near Watkins Glen, 3 bed 1.5 bath newly renovated on 5 acres for just over 100k.

I paid $72,000 for my perfectly lovely home in a small college city in the Northeast.

Wait until you see how much Tahoes cost....

There is nothing frugal about buying a 2020 Escalade at any price. My god, I can’t understand paying these kinds of prices for a new vehicle.
