I think it’s FAR safer to have the screen in/near line of sight so you don’t have to look down like on nearly every other car. I’m far happier with my phone mounted…

You can’t really separate the two when you say EVs aren’t the problem, the grid is. The EVs will have an absolute and direct impact on that grid, exponentially.
