“The mother of idiots is always pregnant.”

As far as protests go, I consider it to be a very subtle and respectful one. It’s not like he is dumping tea in the harbor or secretly fomenting revolution against a king...

Exactly! The whole thing is about how we, as a nation, are not living up to the values that our military defends/fights for. By taking the knee they’re saying that we can do better. We should do better.

I really don’t understand. For me, taking a knee is, symbolically, every bit as patriotic as standing around staring off into space like most players do, maybe more so. It’s not like he is giving the black power salute, scratching his ass, picking his nose, or giving the finger to the flag.

To which Aikman replied: “Will you shut up and come back to bed?”

Nope. Because then Airbnb would effectively be discriminating against women who don’t feel safe renting parts of their homes to men. Never mind that it would be in violation of the Mrs. Murphy exemption to the fair housing act.

Yes and no. I mean, I agree with you in theory. But in practice it’s a lot more complicated when you’re talking about people and their homes. And I love Airbnb but part of the reason I think it’s a great service is that it lets you control and decide who you rent out to. It sucks that this means that discrimination

Legally, when renting out a room in a place you live, you actually do have more leeway to discriminate than you would if you were renting out an apartment to someone. The rules are not the same.

But...no. The Fair Housing Act exempts and does not apply to:

Except that in most cases, AirBnB hosts are exempt from the FHA due to the Mrs. Murphy provision.

Agree. I have used Airbnb once, and it was to reserve a room in an apartment that the host was living in. I only considered young professional women (based on their profiles). I would never have opted for that setup with a man of any race or age.

This is a weird one for me. On one hand, of course, hate discrimination. On the other hand, it’s people renting out their personal homes. If I don’t want to rent to you based on whatever, even if it’s a shitty awful reason, then I’m not going to.

To be fair, it’s obviously demonstrating a white person smiling DOWN at a black person....

Jeans aren’t Business casual which is usually considered to be the minimum for professional clothing for white collar work.

Hello, white collar worker here – I work in publishing and regularly wear dark jeans and occasionally even leggings under a tunic or dress to work. So do eighty percent of my coworkers. Does this make us unprofessional?

Who in their right mind notices ANY clothing when JACOB WETTERLING news is on right behind them? She could literally have reported this naked and I wouldn’t have noticed. :\

rumors of news anchors wearing ratty jeans behind the desk have been around for decades.

The male anchors/reporters 0n this station have been doing it for quite a while. You just didn’t see it before when they were sitting behind desks, but they recently remodeled their studio and now they stand while reporting.

I want to take a moment for those who live outside of Minnesota to try and express How Very Seriously And Deeply the people here take the Wetterling case. I moved here in 2000, and it was mere weeks before it was explained to me that one left one’s porch light on for Jacob, and how his disappearance was a loss of

Guys come on! It’s true.
