Here comes pure heresy... I use pan spray to season my cast iron ... I use it then clean it with soapy water and a scrubby ... The dry on to the stove turn on the heat and then a few blasts on Pan Spray ... boy that stuff loves to polymerise...A quick wipe to remove any excess and let the pan cool down....
