My uni days, around the same time as yours (2005-2014 for me), were probably somewhat opposite of yours. Didn’t live in a dorm for more than one night at a time, didn’t drive (heck for a time I couldn’t drive), etc.

I stopped controlling “the camera” (or the neck in your analysis), like two decades ago, and started controlling my “characters’ eyes.” After that I got used to regular X,Y axes.
