Well, the chromosomes (which are the actual determining factor for gender) are still that of a male so it is still technically a male. It's like swapping the bumper or tailpipe on my Mustang for that of a Ferrari; it's mainly cosmetic and doesn't mean I'm driving a Ferrari now.
