Or hell, even an old school roasting of someone leaving the site, even if by leaving the site, it is leaving the group of G/O sites to an untimely death.
I wish your shithead executives would let you and your readers publicly mourn Splinter. It is missed.
This argument sucks, man! George W. Bush isn’t a lost child; he was the president. He saw photos of the torture, from the man who approved of that torture, and then he stood up for that guy. I linked to this in the blog, which I’m now not sure you fully read.
However, while I don’t think it means everything, I do think intent matters. Every decision GWB made, he (wrongly) believed he was making the tough choices to make America safer in a time when Americans felt very unsafe.
Posted this on a similar story. People need to understand this in their bones.
Right now, the only thing SI seems to have over everything else is something something SI BRAND VALUE...which seems to run completely counter to the proposed concept of pushing for clickbaity garbage.
As the 75% of Deadspin commenters who are lawyers can tell you, forming an LLC is not some magic wand that will protect the company from employment actions, anyway.
I worked for a company that essentially began this way, in the late 90s, when individual fan sites for things were still a thing. We offered free hosting on our well-known domains for enthusiast sites in exchange for running an ad banner (yes, a single one). We also ran hubs on those domains that relied extensively on…
This is all terribly depressing but can we talk about how overly reliant these chuds are on using a pyramid in their diagrams. I know that as a real life not-very-successful business person, the first fucking thing I think of when I see a pyramid during a business presentation is, “oh these assholes are building a…
I am honestly very curious if the shirts are free or not.
Why are the comments on splinter always filled with dipshits that think every single writer has the same opinion on every topic?
Barstool isn’t more successful than Deadspin. As Drew mentions in the piece, Deadspin gets significantly more traffic. I can’t even find Barstool on any list of top sports sites by traffic. That’s how little they matter in terms of clicks.
This would be a devastating blow if they hadn’t already addressed it and evolved as a company and a brand while long-term writers like Drew and Barry have apologized for Deadspin’s past (and their own on this site) and jumped aboard the “don’t write like an asshat” train.
And yet no one is scrambling to abandon the Deadspin brand because
brands are helpful and important.Deadspin has made concerted efforts to shift away from misogyny over the last 8 years.
Dave Portnoy is the real life equivalent of Dennis Reynolds.
Some cities are canceling contracts with ICE. I’ve been going to freeholder meetings in Jersey trying to get my city to do that. Trust me, their stance on it does matter. ICE will get taken down after rising pressure from local municipalities.
It’s a way of leading with your values and energizing your base. Its how Republicans keep getting things done that seemed impossible just a few election cycles ago
So... she thinks it should be abolished and would potentially vote to do so if she ever makes it to the federal level. In the meantime, I’m sure she understands that she can’t do that right now. She’s a community organizer who has supported abolishing ICE for some time. Also, it’s a plank of the DSA party platform. Whe…
She should have slapped the shit out of that official, I applaud her restraint.
