Did the same thing to a really loud group of Freshmen my Sophomore year! My buddy and I walked in; I was holding a clipboard so they knew I was serious!
Whyyyy didn’t I save my Bob Saget story for this Pissing Contest!?!? No!!!
It’s okay; there are worse burdens to bear! The picture-name combo is what makes things stick for me with other folks - and I guess at a certain point I stop reading the name entirely so much as just recalling the commenter, so hopefully that’s the impression it gets, and you just stop noticing what a lazy/overdone…
Excellent article! We purport to be a nation that is concerned with a noble commitment to justice, yet in reality our justice system is more punitive to the nth degree than our laws, policies, and rhetoric.
If I wasn’t going to bed right now I’d scroll super far back through your comments and recommend a few, so plz pretend that I did! G’nite!
:-D That is so awesome!!! There’s another amazing story about her and her family in the thread — it blew me away! She is incredible.
Papier-Mache, please! Clearly, you’re a barbarian, but surely your phone has an I key!?
Hey man - I don’t mean to sound pretentious or nothin, but the aforesaid dick ornaments are actually fabricated through an artistic medium termed Papier-mâché.
Not to mention those outside of HR who are very savvy at operating juuuust within the confines of the law. One of my friends and former bosses, who taught me soooo much about working in a corporate culture, has some dubious ethical convictions, and is a savant at getting what he wants without jeopardizing these rules.…
In my experience, HR is only as capable insofar as it’s in the room during any given interview. There are excellent, thorough, respectful HR executives/employees I’ve worked with, but ultimately during a 1 on 1 interview with a manager who is not in HR, you are at the whim of their training and their concern for…
I appreciate your response. I’ve worked for 7 years in corporate sales, primarily in large high tech companies selling to other large organizations, which ain’t a bad racket, but I still cling to my precious Gawker Media commenting anonymity because I don’t feel I have the financial security to even expose my…
Hypothetically though, what if you lacked the financial security or job options to find your dream job? Or more specifically, I have and will be asked these kinds questions for tons of jobs I’m interested in - either because some managers aren’t well-versed in these laws, or because some people are willing to…
You did catch the gist of my argument, but I still find it hard to believe that secondhand pot smoke affects many people at all. Specifically, the roommates of smokers, assuming they smoke inside. Of course, that only applies to smoking it.
Grazie. Keeping up with the Kardashians and Jenners.
Exactly - there seems to be little to no recourse. Particularly the arrest question, given that virtually every job will perform a background check.

I can one-up you: I was in no way, at any point, remotely tempted. How fucking bonkers is it that they are trying to paint his behavior as normal and inevitable? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
Of course, considering the amount of money that private companies shell out for drug-testing, that’s a huge free-market fail. They’re paying a lot of money to see whether you can’t hold off on doing hard drugs for a 2-day window, or if you smoked week within the last 3 weeks.
