Yes, using the ATM is the best rate, but my bank (US) adds on a foreign ATM withdrawal fee and an exchange rate "adjustment", so you should still draw out large amounts each time to minimise the percentage.

I like AxCrypt for right click encryption of any file in Windows. It's GPL.

Any chance you could put "Windows Vista" or similar in the titles of these stories"? I know we're all on the cutting edge here but there's still a few XP users around who might get disappointed every time they follow the headline.

1024 bytes is of course actually a Kibibyte

As others have said, manufacturers frankly lie about the size by using the "traditional decimal." It's getting noticed by more people - as drives get bigger the difference is much more obvious.

@kpacka

Use a power squid instead of a strip and you can pile the adapters into any box. Don't know what you guys are running (alumin-i-um smelters?) but the blocks don't get very hot in my house ;)

Er, I wrap my clothes and shoes in a suitcase and they hardly ever look in that. This perhaps is a slightly alarmist warning. I suspect that wrapped gifts in carry on will not be welcome but are they going to hand search every checked bag? I think (and hope!) not.

With Quickmix (see earlier comment) you could use an Autohotkey script to run a different settings file depending on the title of the active window. Both free :)

Check out QuickMix. It stores all or part of the mixer settings in a qmx file that you can then run or double click to set. I use it with task scheduler to change volume settings during the day.

Oops, missed a line. Put DetectHiddenWindows On at the top of the script above.

Try this AutoHotkey script. If you have Firefox open, surreptitiously hitting {Enter} on the number pad with your thumb (you are right handed;) will hide the window instantly, revealing your spreadsheet or whatever behind. Hitting the number pad 0 will bring it back, or if the passer by decides to stay, 7 will kill

Get WapgGui to generate strong (and pronounceable) passwords, then stick them in Keepass and you're in business. Then write them on a Post-It and stick to monitor ;)

Er, any "ripping" of a DVD is illegal in the USA since it violates...wait for it...you guessed it...the DMCA. Even if it were legal to make a backup copy of a disk you own it is necessary to violate the DMCA to make the copy.

Woo Hoo! Get the latest DRM ;)

@swisshound

Get Mozbackup and save your profile(s) first if you're worried about damaging your install. Great (free) tool.
