Since the German gov’t has a stake in VW they (by association) also have interest in Audi, SEAT, Škoda, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ducati, Scania and MAN. German auto workers unions are heavily invested in these companies as part of their pension plans; in effect, they own part of the companies.

Yes, it does. Now imagine that economy tanking. There’s nothing to make up that potential loss of revenue in all of Europe.

The problem with this “summit” is that the manufacturers don’t have anything to give. The software fix would only be for cars 2-3 years old and would make a total impact on the countries emissions of less than 3% if every car was modified (which everyone knows won’t happen). The public has a lot of skepticism

Can Toyota make rental sales work? How would you measure it? The fact is that sales to fleet customers dropped 7.8% in June, not because automakers refused to sell them, but because fleet customers cut back their orders.

10-12 years ago i was dating an ex-model. She knew cars; could spot a Bugatti 5 miles out. She told me all her friends laughed at ‘Vettes. “Sorry about your penis!” That’s an attitude it’s going to take a long time to get away from.

They all got fat to accommodate the families who use them instead of cars. And because price is king, it’s cheaper to insure them, and they don’t have to meet the increasingly stringent mileage regulations that cars have, it’s not going to get better.

If you don’t own one it’s tacky. If you do own one it’s crass. The only time it’s acceptable is when they’re sponsoring you at an event.

If I was a pigeon I’d shit on that...

Funny, it’s only $.010 a gallon more than the lowest grade for 91 octane in Alaska.

I hope you have a good trip. Sunday mornings are the best time to do the Autobahn; most everybody is in church and there’s minimal traffic.

I’d pay money to watch you park it.

In K-town? Maybe 10km. And he’d have to fix everything right there to meet code or have it towed. And if they caught him driving it again without being fixed they’d take his license away along with his vehicle.

As someone with a ‘71 100 Scrambler I completely understand. I can put it on the ferry and go out to the islands, ride all day for no money at all, and everywhere I go people tell me about how they always wanted one when they were kids.

First off, you have to realize it’s not just the vehicle, but how it’s configured that made car sex so much better back in the 60's and 70's.

From a landscaping perspective that yard sucks. It does nothing to improve the beauty of the house.

Waffle House for the WIN!

I’ve seen a lot of cars, but only one Weismann Roadster.

Absolutely correct!

Actually, we don’t think about Brooklyn at all.

The real reason people in the USA don’t buy manual transmissions is because schools haven’t used anything but autos to train drivers ed for over 40 years. If you don’t teach someone how to do it, they won’t. And since it’s loads easier to teach people to drive in an auto that’s what the schools use.
