Ive taken my Miata to Vermont and back (also from central NJ) three times this winter. Perfect ski vehicle!

Unfortunately if said human error was due to the guys driving the train, there is a pretty good chance they didn’t make it and therefore wouldn't have to live with that guilt. That would have to be some scary shit. Trains do not stop very quickly so even if they had a good amount of space to see it coming, no way they…
Its only okay if the new mazdaspeed is even more batshit than before. Needs even more horsepower and still front wheel drive. Better get working on those arm muscles to tame that beast!
As a former valet in recent years, that BMW shifter is not bad at all really. It is definitely confusing at first but it eventually makes sense and isn’t a terrible idea. It is fairly difficult to accidentally leave that in drive at least. But yeah the Chrysler one is a PITA.
Oooh that’s intense haha
If anything, less power is better. Since then you have a more precise control rather than just 100% wheel-spin the whole time. That is the beauty of snow, low power cars can become drift machines and you don’t destroy your tires.
You say that like the curb moved at you lol
Cops being there is a downside? I welcome a well-known police presence at any and all car shows. I know I am going to be well behaved but I do not trust everyone else to do so. The cops being there tends to at least limit the amount of idiots like this.
A Miata is definitely a fuckin Mudkip
So would a Focus ST be a Wartortle and a Mustang a Blastoise?
Who would spend $30k on a loaded Miata? Unless by loaded you mean "includes installation of LS engine, track suspension, track wheels/tires, a beater truck with trailer to tow it, and at least a few seasons of consumables"
Yeah, NJ is pretty easy to DD a Miata in the winter. The state basically shuts down when there is more than a few inches. And I have a paid day off work for almost any amount of snow. So it is a ton easier to only drive when I want to. But I have been shuttling up to Sugarbush in Vermont without issue also. This year…
This is why a much lighter vehicle like a Miata is a lot more entertaining for that situation. With good snow tires of course. And limited slip. Icy hills are fun!
Does that mean it takes two days for the diff to transfer torque from one wheel to the other? That would be rather sketchy indeed!
Nah, turn off stability and traction controls and use "moderation" of throttle instead. It is way more fun to countersteer down the whole street and drift through every turn.
Yeah, you definitely want narrower tires for a snow tire and then wider tires for a summer tire. I have 195 for both sets of tires but my winters are on 6" width wheels while the summers are on 8" wheels.
Momentum. And of course never letting off the throttle. You might be going sideways up the hill, but you will be going!
Well the NJ turnpike gets pretty well plowed during any storm. So it would likely be pretty uneventful.
I'm just saying I would have to think about it. Like would I have to pay for maintenance? Am I just driving it to and from work? Are mods allowed? If so, I certainly would value the corolla a bit more.
Well as a caveat, I had spent a short period of time (about 5 minutes) learning how to engage first gear in a parking lot a few years before while working as a valet parking attendant. So I actually managed to make it the two hours to home with only stalling once when I forgot to step on the clutch when coming to a…
