So if Toyota has “grounded to the ground” I guess Nissan had to go for the opposite approach?

yup, recently drove through that exact section on the way to Toronto over labor day weekend. Believe there was a bit more construction though than this picture shows.

I don’t think Hyundai being crap is a reason why jalops would avoid them. Now that Hyundai has improved so much, it is because they are beige that they get ignored. The genesis (and maybe the veloster turbo) are the only relatively exciting cars in their lineup. And then the competition to these cars are just better

I think there is a confusion of what “modern” really is referring to in here. Cars from the 90s/00s could be considered “modern” in the grand scheme of automobile history. But I have the feeling this question is supposed to be referring to less than 5 years old or so. I definitely will go with the FRS/BRZ twins for

Sure computers can crash, but they are certainly more reliable than humans. A computer would have a tough time getting drunk, being tired, or getting distracted by a cell phone. I could certainly see the advantages to society by having self driving cars out there.

Yeah, the biggest thing now is definitely that Apple does not represent anything that you couldn’t do elsewhere. When it comes to phones, as much as I love Android OS and despise IOS, I understand that in reality they accomplish the same exact goals and have similar devices with similar features. However, the main

MacBook pros are actually quality products that are arguably better than many windows based laptops. Sure you can build a better desktop for cheaper but in terms of laptops, Apple certainly produces a top notch product. I don’t think their phones/tablets/other icrap are much good versus the competition at the price

I once rode my mountain bike from Hoboken to the Brooklyn Bridge (via the GWB) just because I was bored one day and wanted to explore. I did this starting around 10am on a Friday in late April so traffic and weather were ideal for this adventure. Definitely appreciated the working brakes, good tires for the excessive

Interesting that you chose that model Focus as your leading image. My girlfriend's mom has had all sorts of transmission troubles with her Focus (I think its a 2012). Transmission was replaced under warranty, clutch replacement (it's an automatic), and sensors and other problems with the shifting. Still not perfect.

Haha yup. I actually really like natural moguls though, those tend to be much easier to handle. Sort of the kind you would find at a place like Mad River Glen. Sure is challenging for an intermediate like me but it doesn’t feel nearly as bad as the crap at my home mountains in PA.

Ski slopes made of ice yes. Mountain Creek is a decent mountain but it gets super crowded with NYC visitors and much of it is man-made snow so it is often an ice rink on the mountain. Better "mountains" over in PA with Blue Mountain and Camelback and then Hunter in NY is only like 3 hours away. But yeah I make the 7

And yet, USDM cars are allowed to have red brake lights and turn signals so if the turn signal is on, you lose a brake light or at best get confused by it.

Moguls are difficult to do well but you can certainly go slowly through it if it's not too steep or icy. And when you get the hang of it, you look like a real pro. Maybe not the best comparison to a Miata but it is a good contrast from the cliff diving picture I found lol.

And a black diamond in NJ is nowhere near as hard as a black diamond in VT.

I think bombing it down a good blue square trail is more fun than struggling my way down a double black. Of course more experience makes the harder trails more doable, but it is still more fun to me to do some jumps and go fast and mess around on the easier trails (safely of course). In this analogy, its more like the

Yeah I think I agree with you a bit here. Sure it would be fun to do that on the road but I can never get over the unknown of another car coming along on a public road. It is incredibly fun in my Miata to be just over the limit on an Autocross course. The only times I really play with that limit out in the real world

I would definitely want to just spam random phrases at people. I wonder what would actually be approved things to say? Like can I just drive behind someone and repeatedly say "go faster"

Haha I like the C4 for deer idea. I can just imagine crusing down the roadway, all of a sudden you see a deer, an explosion and then just a cloud of blood coats the car. Only harm would be that you need to wash the car. Would be pretty brutal to see cars driving down the road just coated in blood.

Yeah lights are pretty cheap but it seems wasteful to use them in broad daylight. Plus it is not something I want to accidentally leave on. At night it is pretty obvious my lights are on but during the day I could definitely miss that (aside from the buzzer when I open the door). I turn my lights on early (far before

That wouldn’t really help you if your oil pan sprung a leak while you were driving along or some sort of other catastrophic leak. I could definitely see value in having a gauge that reads how much coolant and oil are in the car. Obviously checking them before you drive is something you should still do either way, but
