If he doesn’t have a gun why is she yelling to her husband, “Keith! Don’t do it!” over and over? I doubt she’s telling him to not fire the book she claims he had.

Thanks. Also, I meant to write ‘entirely different discussion’ above. Ah, the joys of being heavily medicated.

I’m just going with common sense. It seems EXTREMELY unlikely that this black cop would decide that this situation, in an apartment complex full of people, knowing he’s being filmed by at least this woman, is the time to shoot and kill an unarmed black man for no reason, and then plant a gun that he just happened to

This person did something similar to me yesterday in an entirely similar discussion. It’s like their automatic go-to for every discussion is “you’re a racist” regardless of context.

I’ll bet. It’s why they’re effective maintenance crew of the flow of ignorance. Subtle bias has to be involved for the viewership or clicks.

maybe, but from the public’s perspective there’s been a lot of shoot first and ask questions later type responses. Then again as a lawyer that’s why I hate journalists... too much sensationalism.

Her last few statements when she is saying “Dont do it” seem to be directed at her husband. But like so much in this case, I don’t have a clear answer.

Here are some things we don’t need evidence for, because they are undisputed fact:

It is a bit ambiguous but she seems to be shouting at her husband when she says that (Keith, get out of the car. Keith! Keith! Don’t you do it.”).

They may have, we don’t know.

The PD needs to release the body cam footage.

I’ve added it. I’ve also heard that the “gun” shown in this pic (that was widely distributed to make the victim look guilty) might be a glove dropped by a cop.

Yes, I want to hear from experts who are not family members or policemen. The video and audio here add nothing. True, she does shout that he has no weapon but she also seems to be saying “Don’t do it!” to her husband later on. I really have no clear idea of whether a crime occurred here or not.

Would you pay attention to a person yelling from another part of the car or a guy in front of you with a gun who is not following your instructions? I’d be staring right at the guy with the gun. I don’t feel I would shoot someone with intention of killing them in that situation though. I’d have a hard time shooting

I heard the was a warrant out for someone matching his description in the area.* if so, it’d make sense to approach him cautiously

yeah they are trained to stop focusing on what may or may not be a threat and just do whatever some random person says..

So I guess the officers THOUGHT he had a gun, but he didn’t? And we’re just waiting to see proof that he didn’t?

This is rough. Sounds like the officers legitimately believe he had a gun. Whatever he had he did not drop. An officer tells me to drop anything and I’m dropping everything. Including my pants.

Saying all white people are inherently afraid is the same as saying all African Americans are dangerous.

Don’t bother arguing, some of these commenters are misdirecting their anger and frustration towards you, and you can’t win that argument. I think there’s a huge difference between teaching your kids that the world is peaches and roses and butterflies and overwhelming a six-year old with issues that she cannot possibly
