Bad dealers essentially thrive on denying customers information that would help them cross-shop, negotiate with other dealers, etc. It’s all about maintaining this illusion that buying a car is some truly arcane and complex process and that if you don’t have them guide you through it personally, you’re going to get

Clarification: the 500E does not have any Porsche engine components. The power plant is 100% Mercedes-Benz. Porsche may have tuned it (on that point, I am unsure, and there’s no good info I could find), but peak power and torque figures were in line with any other M119 5.0 of the day. Porsche did chassis, brakes,

Yeah, that thing really is the ostentatious douchebag hyper-SUV du jour.

Isn’t the restyled G Class coming next year for the 2017 model year? That’s a pretty short rivalry. I’m guessing Mercedes isn’t losing much sleep over the last few G63s they move before the new version comes out.

The AMG version is way overwrought. The standard G550 is a little better, and I think it would be downright inoffensive if people would just take those stupid chromed bull bars off the front. They’re terrible.

welcome to my life

I’m guessing they mean GM V8s.

More like 50-60. “HURRR DURR REMEMBER THAT ONE TIME YOU GUYS MADE A 4-CYLINDER? YEAH MAN THAT WAS SO SHITTY, I HOPE THIS NEW ONE ISN’T ANOTHER “IRON DUKE”, BOB. HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR V8 AMERICAN IRON AM I RIGHT GUYS?”

You really have to be willing to accept WW2 tank levels of visibility to drive one of these things. It’s terrrible. Granted, people drive many far less practical vehicles than a Camaro.

As such, the new Camaro 2.0L Turbo is impressive performance: The 2.0L Turbo delivers 270 horsepower – which is more than any V-8 offered from 1971 to 1995.

An excellent use of a terrible car.

“How do we make this hopelessly ugly car appealing to outdoorsy people?”

very convertible

It’s so deliciously...

That’s not a very good argument, and you know it - Tesla has the charger network, the dealer-less purchase and service experience, the brand cachet, and is still supply-constrained: they have demand. Tesla is doing outstanding for a company breaking into a market that even other automakers struggle to break into

whoosh

Wait, you’re telling me bombs don’t instantly and painlessly vaporize all their victims? I AM SHOCKED, SIR, SHOCKED. I THOUGHT WE LIVED IN A CIVIL SOCIETY.

I’d say I’d send you the HTC Re still sitting in the packaging on my desk but that might actually make it worse.

Doug, you do some really entertaining YouTube videos - they’ve come a long way in quality in the last year. This one may have been my favorite yet. A+

The SLK250 comes with a manual in the US, but the 350 and 55 AMG were never offered with them here, sadly - they both get a 7-speed auto only. I bet if the 55AMG had a manual, it’d get a lot more love from the enthusiast community.
