“Best” does not necessarily mean “good.” For instance, the Orioles “best” prospect is Yusniel Diaz, the 138th best prospect in MLB on Fangraph’s list. The Padres’ 12th best prospect is ranked well ahead of him. As are the White Sox 11th best, and the Rays and Braves 9th best.

They did not give up peanuts. They gave up young, developing players. 2 of them (Kelly and Weaver) are 50 FV prospects per fangraphs, which means average major league starters. Young is a 40 FV prospect, but is a 2B who has hit well at just about every stop in the minors, and hit with power not usually seen at that

This all day. Weaver’s advanced metrics (spin rate, break, etc) have him within the top 50 pitchers in baseball based on Eno Sarris breakdown. He could go even higher if he puts it all together with better control and sequencing.

I think you’re being overly pessimistic on the return Arizona got. Goldschmidt is a free agent after this year and that tends to severely depress returns. Weaver was quite good in 2017 (and has something like 5 years of control left), and people seem relatively positive on Kelly and Young.

That photo should get progressively redder.

Week 10 preview:

From Wiki:

I want to impress upon you just how unthinkable this kind of thing would’ve been as recently as, say, 1994, when the shit-ass Norv Turner-led Skins finished 3–13, and scoring affordable tickets for home games at grimy old RFK Stadium still felt like winning the lottery

Reyes is hitting .281/.333/.563 since July 14th and .275/.341/.700 in August

Yes, the Mets, the only team in baseball that ever gave up an RBI single to a bad-hitting pitcher.

Cause only the Mets ever blew a lead in MLB? The fuck does that mean?

It’s incredible that he routinely makes those two shitbags on WEEI seem like reasonable guys who don’t deserve all of the vitriol in the world.

besides the obvious brilliance of degrom, nimmo is one of the few bright lights this year*

And they should have turned down that trade. 1) McCutchen is older, making alot of money and a free agent after this year. 2) Nimmo is already better than him.

Because last month deadspin told you it should.

Yeah, that’s the issue.

The Orioles logo is a fucking classic and you take it back

Bill Belichick used to endorse Starter Jackets:

Megan’s right. The Blazers logo is flawless.

How bad are things with the Mets? I’m also a Knicks fan, and I would gladly take James Dolan owning them for the rest of my life in exchange for the Wilpons being pushed out tomorrow.

I had a guy just like you back in my platoon in ‘Nam.
