I’ll never understand why people assume Kylo Ren was telling the truth. Bad guys lie and manipulate.

Al Horford makes more money than Anthony Davis.

“Carps’ playoff hopes still alive if Salmon can defeat the Bears”

He was asking for it

This was a great article, Dom. Do we know for sure that McDermott actually was the decision-maker? Based solely on headlines and deadspin articles, my first opinion when Tyrod was benched was that this seemed like a front office decision. Now the story seems to be that McDermott is the dummy, and I haven’t seen

Best Pickle:

That was quite a speech. On a day that could’ve been all about him, he chose to make it all about everyone. LT forever.

Anthony Davis? I can imagine a world where the lineup looks like: Curry, McCaw/Clark, Durant, Green, Davis and wins 70+ games

Very few of these guys will be on the World Cup squad next year.

That’s great point about not winning without him

I would think it is more likely that Phil & co. couldn’t figure out how to make it work within the current zone rules, and blamed the players as to not compromise the integrity of the “system” and protect their jobs.

Really? It looks to me that Houston gave up a ton to get a 32 year-old guy who plays the same offensive position as their superstar player. I don’t see how this works.

Why is keeping him the only alternative to trading him for nothing? They should have held out for more draft capital or kept him. Someone would have come calling eventually at a much better price. The Celtics should have been over the moon at the chance to get Butler on the roster for 75% of what they are paying

A GM gotta have a code

He was too hard to hold the racquet, but not too hard to tuck it into his waistband.

But the fact is that when he signed this contract, everyone called bullshit and said he would walk away this year and now (if you believe the conspiracy) they have found an even more convenient way to avoid actually taking the cap hit on the value that Hossa provided in years 1-8. I really do hope you are right

He’s not walking away from 20 million though. He already was paid 59.3 out of the 63.3, so he is walking away from 4 million. It’s the cap hit that was spread out to 5.5 million a year. This contract was designed for him to walk away in the last 4 years and LTIR just makes it even easier for the Blackhawks to 1) Pay

Not sure about this as a theory, but personally I became a tennis fan during the Sampras era (I was 10 in 1994, when he was on top of the world). He rode off into the sunset and then there was Federer. I think he won Wimbledon the year after Sampras retired and Federer has never given me a reason to waver in my fandom.

So no one would ever win if they got to 89? What would happen in an 89-89 game?
