I think Spotted Cow might be the ONE beer people outside WI have heard of, because your expats mention it often enough. I am looking to write a longer piece about WI beer (because I'm a pilsner fan), it's a pretty interesting topic. There's great beer in almost every state now, but it's different in WI.

I think the love for Spotted Cow mostly comes from the fact that it's an easy drink, not necessarily because it's the best. There are many young-20s-ish people who are first trying to graduate from mass-produced swill to craft beers and the easiest gateway is something like Spotted Cow.
