‘Unavailable’ in my country... Here’s another link, for anyone else who had the same problem:
This is a D-, and that’s me being generous, because I’m reserving my F’s for fascinatingly awful stuff, and Gatiss and Moffat don’t deserve it...
‘Shadow’ also made my best of 2019 list: stylish, heartfelt, and action-packed, this movie has it all. Another foreign film that I loved and expected to see in other people’s best of lists was ‘Border’, a truly strange, but strangely relatable fable.
The Thing, The Wizard of Oz, Ben-Hur, The Maltese Falcon, Scarface, The Departed, The Fly, The Magnificent Seven, A Fistful Of Dollars, 12 Monkeys, Ocean’s Eleven, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Little Shop of Horrors, and Heat would beg to differ.
‘Force Majeure’ didn’t need a remake, and definitely not one that seems to be nearly identical to the original - it even features some of the same actors, and what look like the same locations. ‘Funny Games’ comes to mind, but that at least served a purpose, as it was directed by the same person, and also meant to…
I really enjoyed this (season? series?) finale, which tied up most of the loose ends, but there’s certainly enough left on the table to justify a second serving. Hopefully, Lindelof and his writing team can be convinced to stick around, as I really don’t want this to end up in the wrong hands - pun intended.
When three main characters have pretty much the same thing happening to them, and the others have nothing worthwhile going on, you can tell the writers are running out of steam.
Well, it’s the same as with the good ol’ IMDb message boards: a shitload of trolls spouting angry nonsense at each other, but once in a while you could have an interesting conversation with someone who’s actually there to have a constructive exchange of opinion. That’s why I still miss those boards - sure, a lot of it…
I hadn’t watched the trailer, as they tend to give away too much of the movie’s storyline nowadays.
Is it difficult getting your head out of your ass when you’re a condescending, snide piece of shit?
I’m not a masochist, so I haven’t watched that many truly lousy movies in the past year; ‘The Dead Don’t Die’ was probably the biggest disappointment for me, as I was curious what Jarmusch would do with zombies after ‘Only Lovers Left Alive’, his brilliant take on the vampire trope, and all I got was bad CG and…
A lot of people are gonna freak out in the comments about the inclusion of Joker - it’s already starting -, but I tend to agree. I’m not in the habit of watching bad movies for fun, and luckily I don’t have to professionally, so it really did make my 2019 list of most disappointing films, and here’s why.
Nowadays, the correct use of English is too much to expect from journalists, and if you correct them, you’re a nazi for some reason. Still: Zack, fix that shit. It’s annoying as fuck.
Back in June, Katie Rife gave this a solid B while reporting from the Overlook Film Festival, so that’s quite the difference in grading. Still, I like it when opinions differ wildly regarding less mainstream movies, and this looked interesting to me anyway, so I’ll check it out when it’s streaming in my region.
Overall, this was a pretty solid chapter. I don’t think the explanation for how the villagers tracked down the Mandalorian was left on the cutting room floor, though; at the start of the episode, they see his spaceship pass over their settlement, and later on it’s established they know who the Mandalorians are - so…
Originally, the track was first published when Thomas' band was still called Rocket From The Tombs - but whatever. Great song indeed.
It can be two things.
