Sometimes, in order to make me feel better when I'm feeling down, I google this image of Wolf Blitzer getting his ass handed to him by Andy Richter and all becomes right with the world.

You're right that the politics show based on the history of medieval Europe doesn't quite translate into today's presidential contest. But at the same time, populism has a long running history that's clearly impacted the narrative George RR Martin and the showrunners are trying to tell. I think it's useful to compare

Superman: Villain, what hast thou done?

That Shakespeare show could be interesting. I mean, Elizabethan England's a fascinating time and place, and if they wanted to go the Shakespeare in Love route, there are thirty-some plays they can take from. Sounds better than that Romeo and Juliet sequel/remake or whatever the hell it is.

Yeah, I think Titus Andronicus is about as about as dark and gritty as you can get.

This news story is way too British for me.

"You don't belong in this time, or any time!"

This is a pretty interesting theory. There was so much about the 90s that pretty much glorified the 60s and by extension Baby Boomers. I'm glad we're finally past that.

Taken to its extreme, claims of cultural appropriation limit culture and creativity. That's not to say that it's never a problem. If you're taking religious and spiritual symbols from a culture you don't belong to and using it divorced from its original context, then there might be a problem.

The shame..the shame.

I was ignorant of this film's existence. Thanks for highlighting it. Unfortunately, Netflix apparently doesn't even have a DVD version of the film.

It's true what they say. You really do learn something new everyday.

So I guess Ocasek really is a Dick, huh?

Why do you have to be a dick, Ric Ocasek? Also, what happened to the "k" in your first name?

This is the silliest premise for a story I've seen since Mr. Mom. He's a dude and a stay at home mom? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!!!?

I think the mystery was, Did Debra Messing star in a show where she was a detective and single mom? The mystery has been solved. Yes, she did. But now it's cancelled.

I think parts of the film could be trimmed, but I didn't mind that first forty-five minutes. I thought the flashback chapter was largely unnecessary, since the audience pretty much figured out what had happened at that point. We didn't need Tarantino to show us. It's an instance of the audience being farther ahead of

Whedon's more of a writer than a director, which is why he seems more comfortable in the medium of television. Still, I don't think anyone else would have come up with that party scene in Avengers 2, so he does somehow manage to smuggle in some of his own sensibilities even in big tentpole films.
