I considered swapping to steel on my Taycan but then after talking to friends who have owned electric cars, including one with one of the first 1000 Model S’s, and hearing them all say they *never* had to do brakes due to regeneration, I just let it be.

Taycan owner here and agree.  Although like many other commenters supposed, I have other options in gas vehicles if I need them.

Jesus!  I got offered a G63 at I think $10 or $15 over last year (and even then I told them to kindly GFY).

Have you looked at the new G? I have yet to see a Merc dealer not adding a “market adjustment”. Same with the 1M I bought in 2011 (the only car I’ve ever actually paid above sticker on). And when I tried to order my i8 BMW SF wanted above sticker - and may have gotten it from the first several buyers/suckers before

I’d rather negotiate on this one in CA which, since it comes from a dealer, would come with smog and a title. And it has two AC compressors or something, but only one blows cold maybe?

I have an Elettrica (the faster one) and I love it for my current use case as a small town runabout. In fact it’s so great I’m thinking about getting a second one as a city commuter rather than moving the country one back down to the city when the office reopens.  I’d be open to something like this instead if it were

I subscribe to a pretty cool substack on text adventures, definitely worth a look:

1. Slideshows suck!

My mother wanted a European wagon and I pushed her and pushed her to the US Opel. We even drove it and it was great - independent of price, which was also great.

I mean - who has that many quarters?

Now playing

You forgot the Adobe. For those of us whose name doesn’t happen to be Rockefeller.

I’ve shopped for cars in Australia and they seem to be about 2x in AUD compared to USD for the same car. Maybe this is due to the fact that on average Aussie buy cheaper/smaller cars?  Seems sus.

I think I’d call these guys first:

How about a used base Taycan Elon?

The lowest mileage Lincoln Mark VIII in the country from the last year of production. Great long distance cruiser, from the end of the luxury comfort era of Lincoln. You’ll probably never see another one.

Blue Thunder!

In college my g/f and I both had RX7s and we often put 2 people in the passenger seat of mine or hers. But only for short journeys at reasonable speeds. And we were stupid college students, good thing no one ever got hurt.

I wonder if this is the tech I already disabled in the Taycan? When I first drove it home every time I engaged cruise it went down to the speed limit - making me the slowest car on the highway. I thought I was doing something wrong but nope, it was operating as intended.

You wouldn’t even have to build a new motor!  Just take the 4C, combine with Alfa’s existing QF V6 (which Ferrari worked on), and as long as we are dreaming add a manual.  Perfect modern Dino.

It’s difficult to say. I tend to charge at home and drive it like I stole it somewhat regularly (because otherwise I would have gotten a less expensive version).
