Interesting. I had an i8 for 2.5 years starting about 6 months after they came out. Not a roadster obviously. For me it was a great car - looked awesome, great if not exotic performance especially in-town, possible to drive long distances without being tired, great mileage if you weren’t getting on it all the time.

Agree! Back in about 2006 I drove down in my S54 M Roadster from SF to visit a buddy in Malibu and he had just gotten an early 90s NSX. His dream car and one I always loved. Traded cars for a day.  It was good in the canyons (not appreciably better than my car), and great to look at.  But just not fast.

In E9 proper fitment you say?

One of my best friends, who just got a new Boxster in that exact color combo (and it is a blast to drive) had this to say about the new Vette:

I hit a pothole Saturday in my Giulia and sure enough yesterday afternoon I noticed a small bump in my front passenger tire sidewall. 3500 miles and I’m already replacing the front P Zero Corsas. Which is crazy because I was sure I’d be replacing the rears first (and often).

I agree with you about Venice and SM (and SM is kind of one big mall outside the boardwalk) - but last time I was in SB last summer it was pretty grungy there as well.  The downside of nice weather all the time.  (I live in SF, so I know LA and SF are much worse.)

OMG! My cousin has one of those. It’s been sitting in the garage since 1980/81 and has 100 original miles.

I know it wasn’t in the question and you guys are trying to be entertaining, but presumably Erin doesn’t want to spend all or part of the budget trying to get a JDM Toyota or a Lada registered in California, even assuming such a thing is possible.

Actually I had no issue fitting the engine and a slightly later transmission (although some people attempting the swap report having to modify the firewall - these cars were pretty handbuilt).  I did have to change to electric rather than mechanical cooling, and since the whole car was stripped down upgraded brakes

I’d say it depends.  Swapping an S38 requires a lot of other work so should only really be done in connection with a full restomod/restoration.  The original cars are nice to drive as well, but they are not fast by today’s standards.

This was years before I ever owned a BMW - I had a personal connection.

I’ve told this story on here before but back in the very early 00s I spent a weekend driving an E46 M3 that belonged to the CEO of BMW - it was his wife’s daily driver. The first car I ever drove with built in navigation but it had a tough time handling the streets in Innsbruck that were closed on Sunday for some

Maybe not slobby but barely business casual. Definitely not considered as well-dressed as wearing a sports coat, which is below a full suit.

The best Lambo of all time is the Miura, followed closely by the Islero.  I like weird stuff too but let’s not let weird dictate good.

Is the jersey signed Roger Murdock? Because I’ll pay you serious money for a Lakers jersey signed that way.

I am buying an electric vehicle this year to replace my venerable G-wagen. I’ve got a deposit down on the Taycan but I would have pulled it if the e-tron Sportback looked cool and had good (TM3-level) performance. I guess this is a big womp-womp.

Given where values are in Europe, if EuroClassix is offering this at $32k imported and fully California-compliant, that’s probably a fair price.

Technically she’s a CSi actually, albeit a very restored/modded one.  I agree on the green (I think you mean Golf).  I was down to Inca and Golf for mine when we rebuilt it.

I’m not a fan of yellow for cars other than the E-type (and that’s barely yellow) and maybe a Defender. But if this means we can start getting the rest of the 70s German safety colors I’m all for it.

Now playing

There I was sitting in a work meeting in London and my E9 spider sense started tingling.
