I did a high performance track day in 2013 or so with one of these and a few other cars. Always poo-poo’d them because of the lack of manual, but it was super fun to drive around the Auto-X track and made all the right noises. If I was looking for a used commuter to put a lot of miles on but that could still be fun,

If I had seen this a few weeks ago and there was a blue SVR like in the pic I might have been swayed away from getting the G-wagen. Assuming I didn’t have to go all the way to Alabama. :)

Best explanation I’ve seen of its looks, and why I don’t like it either (which I could never pinpoint). Bravo.

It’s hard to say. I think the reason it was *so* disappointing is that aside from the transmission it was a gorgeous car with a great interior and a good motor. But the truth also is that it’s too big to be an engaging driver’s sedan in my opinion. So I doubt it would have been saved by a 3-pedal set-up.

Maybe if PDKs and their ilk had come out when I was in my 20s I’d love them. Hard to tell. But I spent most of my 30s getting faster and faster cars, only to realize that I was never having as much fun as I was in cars with around 300-400HP and a manual transmission.

Well said.

So dusty in this office.

Pretty sure Pops Racer, shown here on a call with Audi’s lawyers describing his engineering testbed, has a patent on this idea.

Here she is in my 3.0 CSi. I don’t trust her to drive, too much HP.

Here’s my mini-Aussie, reversing in a ‘49 Hudson. Who says pets can’t drive?

This does not appear to be true in my i8. Just ask my garage wall.

Neutral: I just got rid of my M6 for a G550. But I guess I still have a lot of other cars including a sedan so I’m not sure you can really read much into that.

Hey look I found the perfect place for it.

I had a friend that lived in Brooklyn around 2002 (not the nice hipster-y parts either) that had one of these in red and street parked it. She claimed it was the only kind of car in NYC that was theft and break-in proof.

I figured I’d watch for 10 mins and got sucked into watching the whole thing. Hope they come back and get that other 50s truck and do the same thing.

They sure sold me an E34 M5!

This is in Malabar NSW near Sydney I think? I’ve been there. Here’s a picture. I’ve swum in this rock pool. How anyone could be a road-raging asshole in this environment boggles the mind.

9k dollars every 20k miles.

Both! Bang-y and uncomfortable shifts, but then $9k for a clutch at approximately 20k miles. I sought out that transmission but really wish I had taken a regular auto.
