I had the same thought. I assume Riseborough has more connections than Deadwyler, who seems relatively new to major movies. But more than Viola Davis? Oscar and Emmy winner, multiple time Oscar and Emmy nominee, headlining actress in numerous movies and TV shows Viola Davis?!
Indeed. Danielle Deadwyler maybe doesn’t have the connections. But Viola Davis (1 Oscar win + 3 more nominations, lead in numerous TV programs and movies) is less connected in Hollywood than Andrea Riseborough? That belies belief.
“His betrayal did clear the way for Elsa to perform that act of love herself”
I had similar feelings. It was fine, I guess. The before times with Joel and his daughter were interesting but it looks like those are gone. I also would have liked to see more of a transition. From normal to complete chaos in a few hours just seems kind of lazy.
I thought, “dang that girl looks like Thandie Newton,” but when I saw her name I figured it was just a coincidence. I guess I should’ve clicked along further.
I’m with you on The White Lotus. I thought there was really nothing of depth there.
Tár just showed up for streaming on Peacock.
Sure. Many villains have tragic backstories. Perhaps I am misremembering (like Roger Clemens), but the reason she ran away was because she started freezing everything.
I like that one sister sacrificing herself for the other was true love. It’s the best part of the movie (and Olaf).
Let It Go is awful. It’s a song about an individual who decides to run away from the problems she created and eschew any notion of responsibility or morality. “No right, no wrong, no rules for me.” We’re supposed find this commendable? It also reinforces the notion that personal growth for girls involves putting on a…
The boats should’ve exploded. It’s the clear culmination of the events that preceded it. And the only way the actual ending makes sense.
Ah, I see your mistake. Yesterday was Monday.
Motive is not a necessary element of criminality - mens rea and actus reus. Motive might inform, but it doesn’t need to be known or considered.
Except she said it first. She said, “they were nobody,” and he followed up with details. It’s consistent with the scene in the cave where she wants to see her parents, but only finds herself.
When Brad Bird agreed to direct [Ghost Protocol], he asked J.J. Abrams for the screenplay, and Abrams would be reluctant to show it to him, saying that Bird would have a lot of freedom in doing the scenes. After Bird finally asked Abrams for real for the screenplay, the producer admitted that they had several drafts,…
Seriously? The more I hear about the movie the less I want to see it.
I saw someone post this idea for an “article” as a joke in the comments the other day. I guess someone in charge saw the same comment but didn’t realize it was a joke.
“If it’s an all-female M&M, I assume that it costs 77 cents on the dollar of what the regular M&M’s would cost, right?”
The article leaves out some information. According to the link, it played in the UAE and Russia last year. So, yeah, it didn’t make much money in theaters because they didn’t put it in theaters. It never played in the US.
