I agree. Lots of anime, what is selling it is the art more than anything else, and for live action you are often limiting the ability to duplicate it by technology, budget, etc.

Some of those taps are attached to a spring. But even things like dasani which are from a municipal supply are usually reverse osmosis filtered and then seeded with some minerals for a very clean and consistent taste. 

What gains? The only thing I have seen anyone do with these things that wasn’t pointless was some minor home automation. My uncle was doing that shit in the early 80s.
