wrong
wrong
No, it wasn’t. The airframe was barely modified to fit the lift fan in.
either you are wrong or congress, pentagon, the airforce and the CBO is wrong. I’m willing to bet you are wrong.
A former f-16 pilot, now F-35 pilot himself said it wasn’t an issue. I don’t know what else to tell you, but I’ll take his word (he isn’t even a US airforce guy, but Norwegian) over yours.
You found an old ass article from 2015. Are you saying that congress is lying about the actual cost of what we are buying the engines for? The pentagon, airforce and congress are all lying about it? And that you know more because of some old article from off brand sources?
Not per F-16 pilots that are now flying the F-35.
F-35 has better payload, better range, higher angle of attack, faster when carrying a full payload, better situational awareness, stealth, better BVR combat and AESA.
Wow this is completely out of touch. There’s already over 200 F-35s built and delivered. Being flown all around the world. What are you even ranting about? Some bullshit from 2 years ago?

They are already better than the jets they are replacing. That’s well known, and it’s why the countries that have already accepted delivery have ordered more.
The F-35A is coming in at about 100 mill and is being revised down to 80 mill by 2018. How is that not affordable? That’s cheaper than 4.5 gen jets.
Direct quote from a pilot.
The rear vision of every pilot is blocked, that’s why older jets have mirrors and the F-35 has cameras. The frame was bulked up not because of the lift fan but because the large internal fuel tanks and ordinance.
Every pilot and country that isn’t the USA love the thing and are ordering more. Our own air force loves it. I don’t think that will be an issue.
What are the total overrun costs, do people even know that number? Or do they just hear the 1.5 Trillion! (which isn’t even true anymore it’s been revised down to 900…
It added cost to the F-35B but how did it add cost to the F-35A? How did it compromise the F-35A design?
Seriously, people bitch about this constantly yet they have literally no solid facts as to why. The lift fan replaced the internal fuel tank in the F-35B, so yeah it’s range is compromised, but the F-35A maintains…
I just quoted the price with engines based on reports to congress. Here it is again. If you don’t like that and it breaks your world view that the F-35 “costs too much” when in reality it’s cheaper than brand new 4.5 gen fighters, I don’t know what else to say but. Sorry?
They are two different jets. The F-35C have a bigger wing and sturdier landing gear.
Feels before reals huh?
The VTOL version didn’t’ add significantly to the development cost nor did it change the design. Why is this meme allowed to live?
100 million total. With engines and avionics. The f-22 can strike ground targets but that’s just for show. It’s not made to do so, and not nearly as effective as the F-35 is. That’s like saying “well the A-10 can carry sidewinders so it’s air superiority”.
VTOL fighters are required by the US Marines and the British…
This is not adding to your argument and is showing your ignorance of as to why the F-35 was ordered. The F-35B and F-35A are in the final stages of testing and the B model is already cleared for combat.
The F-22 is an air superiority fighter. The F-35 is a strike fighter. The F-22 wasn’t designed to hit ground targets,…
So this issue really only affects the F-35C which wasn’t expected to even go into service for another few years. This does not affect the vast majority of F-35s? Right? You probably should mention that in your article....
