I know George Meyer wrote it because The Flintstones had a sound effect that sounded like yoink, so he wrote it in like that.

As an aspiring sitcom writer, having a role for Jon Hamm is my ultimate goal. The fact that he loves old British comedy is magic.

Jon Hamm shouting BANJO! at Tracy in that old blackface NBC sitcom. The agonised dignity Tracy performs it with is wonderful,

"Well Seymour, I must say, you steam a good ham, but I must be le- WHAT IN GOD'S NAME IS THAT?"
"Err, Aurora Borealis?"
"Aurora Borealis? In this part of the country, at this time of day, localised entirely within your kitchen?!"
"…Yes."
"…May I see it?"
"…No."

I often think about the (dumbed down by giant brains) Leela sticking her hand in the fire, and yelling "fire hot!" followed by Farnsworth sticking his hand in too, also yelling, and adding "fire indeed hot." The way Bill West manages to convey that this is a very smart man who has been made stupid with his reading is

Actually excited by this.

"You can't just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!"

"He visited a Chipotle every day for about two weeks, ordering five burritos each visit"

I know, and I greatly enjoy seeing a beautifully placed/altered Simpsons quote here.

If you write lots of 80s cultural references, it's a "book," but if you do it with Simpsons quotes, it's an "AV Club comments section." Double standards.

The head of a UK charity who's been in the news recently has a surname that begins with Batman.

"Whatever I say, just agree to make me look smart."

I'll have what she's having!

That'd make sense. Think Edgar Wright has done that before.

I think Spielberg can make this good. As long as he doesn't have subtitles explaining the references.

Twitch is so weird to me. Maybe it's because I'm not really into games and only watch gameplay on YouTube for the people playing, but I don't think it comes across as well on Twitch. Probably because it tends to be people on their own?

He's bitter, he says as much in his book. He didn't actually think Revolver was rubbish, it was just a way to get noticed in a review. He also says in the book that he didn't listen to Sargent Pepper at first, because he knew the Kinks had released the best record of the year, in Waterloo Sunset.

Pfft! Ray Davies was trashing Beatles albums when they were new! Yet another example of him being decades ahead.

Fry's Dog

Only the peerless quality of many of the preceding seasons can explain the harshness with which The Simpsons is judged from here on out.
