Woman. You can just say woman. “Female” is so weird.
A sort of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Friends?
OINTB is a good example of them engaging with a trans actor to figure this shit out. Cox said they discussed various ways to show her in flashbacks, including her portraying the role, before deciding to cast her twin (a cis man) in the role. Like you said, it was sheer luck to have a twin that could play the role, but…
That’s part of a wider problem, that trans actors don’t get those opportunities - trans people are denied the stardom Redmayne can get, because they don’t get called into the room for any roles. Off the top of my head, Jamie Clayton.
That’s kinda the point.
Speaking as a trans woman, I think he’s saying the right things after far too long saying nothing. But also, that getting a cis actor to play a trans person going through transitioning isn’t necessarily the wrong choice.
Dear god, yes. Ex Machina is a great film and she is fucking brilliant in it. Without her, that movie doesn’t work. I’ve taught that film in so many classes and students always love it.
If I wanted to hear insincere waffling about social progress from an Old Etonian, I’d watch literally any Boris Johnson press conference.

Hey, I’m all for a “Surprise, Lumberfucker!” Doakes appearance.
the creators said of the Jamie Cersei scene at Joffrey’s funeral “it was rape that became consensual”
It’s weird and gross how many people in the comments seem to think it’s okay if Joss Whedon was abusive toward Gal Gadot because, hey, she’s an awful person.
Wow, can you imagine how much press would be generated about this if “Justice League” was any good?
At the time? Yeah, he was huge in the industry. Making a couple movies that rake in billons does that. He didn’t just direct Avengers, he wrote it. He was also exec producer, consultant and did some writing on all the MCU projects from Avengers up until 2016. HBO had just handed him an expensive series that he was…
Dunno if you watched his shows, but Whedon’s sensibilities, for lack of a better term, are all over Avengers. But he got too big for his britches, oh well.
To those saying “never heard of her”, well she’s still someone of more renown than you.
Great, Gadsby!
Surprising. The comedy special the article mentions, Nanette, made quite a stir. It was heavily praised but also got a lot of backlash from people who objected to the fact that it’s more of a personal essay than a series of jokes. Which is stupid in my opinion. If something is good, then it’s good. Who cares about the…
