Gamers are weird.

Or people do not use anonymous reviews on a storefront that is primarily populated by teenaged memelords and go looking for reviews in literally any other place. That is the best alternative.

Still, this is yet another example of how shit steam reviews are and that 95% of the time they don’t show the actual quality of the game.

95% of the time reviews aren’t related to the game’s quality? Really? Methinks you exaggerate.

“Theoretically, some reviews that are just messages of support for Notre-Dame could be considered “off-topic” by Valve’s new anti-review bomb standards, but I have hunch they’ll be given a pass in this case.”

I have already said this elsewhere, but IF they do not label these reviews as “off topic” and rebalance the metric accordingly, then they are hypocrites.

It would truly mean they are only trying to silence negative PR instead of trying to eliminate “off topic” reviews.

Tomahawk chops for everyone!

MLB - “We’re totally against anything racist, suspensions all around!”

Also MLB - “This week on Sunday Night Baseball: Braves at Indians!”

Bright idea: Similar to every time Hamilton Nolan reports on Peggy Noonan, this should be the thumbnail for every Ingraham post going forward on Splinter.

Which is legal if you own the original cart.

Of course they’re for playing ROMs. Spoiler alert: I’d rather play Chrono Trigger on my RetroPie than break out my SNES to play the Chrono Trigger cartridge that I legally own.

You can’t ban bongs either.

I thought your point was both amusing and pretty true. People like to pretend that emulators are only used for homebrew or to play “backups” of games they already own. 99.9% of emulator use across the board is geared towards playing pirated ROMs. And that’s a scientific fact I just came up with. I’m fine with it,

From their license: “You can use, modify and redistribute this code freely as long as you don’t do so commercially.”

Emulator developers don’t rely on people using their software because they’re not making money off it. What are you even talking about?

In all fairness, this thing is most likely going to be hacked open within hours of hitting the market and people will be able to add whatever they want.

I think the overall point being made by this article and by the quoted members of the emulation community is that although it’s not illegal to use FB Alpha in a for-profit venture, it’s definitely against the stated intentions of the project and many of its contributors. So it’s at the very least really, really shitty.

With your off topic, yeah that thing is really ugly looking and for over $200 USD I expect a lot more games for it.  I just hope the build quality is awesome for something that costs almost as much as a basic ps4 or Switch.

You know, I don’t hate the Capcom logo, but this should not be a contoured shape. A big rectangle with that logo across it would look so much cleaner, at the very least ditch the weird bulge around the bottom.

A typical, but not universal, practice in collaborative open-source projects is for contributors to assign ownership of the copyright to the project, either in the form of a non-profit corporation or the main developer. This allows for the project to change licenses in the future, which is sometimes necessary. In this
