That just leads to more confusion.  Coconut Milk and Coconut Juice are two completely different things.

Nice work, dairy farmers. You should definitely be lobbying the government (that’s capitalism for you!) for protection against a problem that doesn’t exist. Ditto the meat industry. These are the same fucking people who try to prevent anyone with a camera from going undercover and exposing the horrendous conditions

Surprise. Words can have multiple definitions: “the white juice of certain plant”

Prude.

I would rather Dairy Farmers just fuck off and let the rest of us use the terms we prefer.

In the grocery store where I shop in the deli section you can buy “Baby Bologna” which has a picture of a cute little baby on the wrapper. One day I was behind a woman in line at the checker and noticed it in her basket. I asked her, “Is that made of real babies?”

Now playing

I feel like David Mitchell in this situation.

Udderly absurd.

I don’t think the dairy farmers are that concerned about lizard milk, but fine, “animal boob secretions”.

So let’s slide down the slippery slope!

I think he meant “yuk”, as in “I didn’t like how it tasted” not “yuk” as in “Ewww, it’s gross where that came from.” But I could be wrong.

Maybe you have. But generally speaking, animal-based milk is not good for humans.

You maybe should have been weaned already?

No, it wasn’t. Plant based milks have been called milk in the evolution of English, before it even split from Romance into the Germanic languages. In other words the name for plant based milk, and animal based milk has been the same for around 3,000 years. If the dairy farmers want the two things to suddenly have

Who gives a shit what anything is called as long as it gets the point across? Ignorant people is what.

I can’t find the citation that I had read that went back further, but here is a link describing the history of nut milk over the last thousand years at least:

Legumes or grains are typically going to have less environmental impact than tree nuts, so rice/oat/soy/flax/hemp/pea protein would all seem to make sense to me.

Nut milks have been called milk all the way back to proto-Indo-European languages, dating back about three millennia. Dairy farmers are greedy assholes who get fat sucking on the teat of massive government subsidies and then whining about having to compete for market share.

Almonds are a drupe, not a nut.

That’s ok, but only if they have to call milk “cow boob secretions”.
