2020, man.
2020, man.
Are all the journals aiming for TedX status?
This is why I’m even putting off simple home repairs that require me to climb a ladder. I’m avoiding absolutely everything that could put me at risk of needing medical care. Something could still happen, though. I could get appendicitis. My cat could bite me and the bite could get infected. Fingers crossed.
After a trip to Japan a few years ago, we installed a bidet toilet. We’ve loved it but...it started acting up this year, spraying you as soon as you sit down. We called around and no one knew how to service it. We called the company, who said they’ll fix it, we just have to send them the toilet. TO JAPAN.
Where are you watching vintage Muppets? Love them. Could use a little John Denver, Paul Williams, Ruth Buzzi..
I’m 5'8" and my knees touch the seat back. I suspect it’s a matter of proportions. My hip-to-knee length must be longer than average, because whenever I fly all I can think is - I don’t know how >6' people can stand it.
I like comparing the sentence I want to write with a sentence I know is correct. Like an anchor of good information. Have you seen this video? Lots of good examples to keep in mind.
I buy 2lb bags of various nuts from Costco. They’re great quality at a great price. But, honestly, this is too many nuts. And I hate that feeling of anticipation when I try a nut - have they gone rancid yet? A little bit? Try another. Not sure. And then having to throw out a quarter of a bag, eventually. It’s still…
I was really surprised when you said hash browns have a low glycemic index. Wouldn’t they have the same or very similar glycemic index to baked potatoes/french fries?
I got some edamame pasta from Costco the other day. It’s not bad. Only ingredient is edamame. 56 gram serving has 200 calories, so it’s not a low-calorie food, but in that small serving there are 24 grams of protein and 21g of carbs (vs 210 calories, 6g of protein, 43g carb in my regular 56g serving of Garofalo wheat…
OMG OMG OMG
THANK YOU for this detailed recipe! I am so excited about replicating any Din Tai Fung dish in any way. You wouldn’t know anything about a dish they call “Appetizer,” do you? Shredded tofu, bean sprouts, little bit of noodles, a little bit of peppers - I am always too busy gobbling it up to dissect it and I have no…
I completely forgot about that documentary. But it, too, was charming! Gosh. I like this Phil person.
Yes. Yes. If I had to denounce my idiot BIL every time he did another stupid/illegal thing I’d never have time to live my own life. Not my circus, not my monkeys.
That biore special edition rose sunscreen was sooooo nice while it lasted. But I heard they only made it for one season and that was it! I love the original, but I also love rose scented anything and so this was a perfect product for me. I should have bought like 6 when I had the chance. :(
Padded shorts. I didn’t even know that was a thing. I took one spin class and could barely sit down for like 3 days afterwards.
This is exactly what I did when I got a pepper grinder, and was thrilled to be putting my lab skills to work in the kitchen.
I recently figured out this tip myself! I heat up my water for coffee in the microwave in the morning. I set it to go for 3 minutes. In that time, I can unload and reload my dishwasher. I love to see the clean counters, and I never start cooking until I’ve cleaned them all off, but I always thought it was a huge task.
Abusive bosses are all over the place in academia, as well. I left one lab run by a screaming maniac (brilliant but insane), and left another run by a manchild who would throw his underlings under a bus whenever it got him ahead. Insults about your abilities every day, over trivialities. I knew so many people who were…
I decided not to finish my STEM PhD, and am more glad I escaped every year. One of my friends from grad school (I’m ABD, she’s one of the few who actually went all the way and got the PhD) did adjunct work for *10 years* before she got a job as an assistant professor at a place no one has ever heard of, making what is…
