Okay I’m gonna split this into two phases, pre- and post- 9/11, because, yeah.

Fast and the Furious and American Pie 2 are huge ones for me. A cam version of the latter was the first movie downloaded from Kazaa that circulated at my school back in early 2002.

Musicals fall into a couple categories. West Side Story and Music Man get remade and remade on stage with famous revival cast members and new generations. I can’t see anyone remaking Singin in the Rain as it’s completely built around its singular talents. Grease ... can’t really see it getting remade (other than on

Go is a lot more complex in variations than chess, but eventually it may proceed down this route as well. Though, given the permutations in Go, it’s possible the human brain can’t memorize enough strategies to matter.

It’s strange that it exists, but it’s not “the strangest holiday offering”, it was aggressively normal.  (Also, one of the gifts near the end is a box -- maybe DVDs? -- labeled “Legends of TomorrBO”.  That is indeed the extent of the references.)

I was an innocent 9 year old, flipping through the (two available) channels when The Star Wars Holiday Special came on. Years later I thought I’d dreamed it, because it had the weird garish cruddy quality of a nightmare. Imagine my surprise when I discovered it was real. As for any confusion, the cheapo variety show

I got a bit weirded out that Caitlin said that Kalanorians had 4 hemispheres. She’s a geek! She should know better about the definition of a hemisphere, unless Kalanorians are some kind of 4 dimensional being?

I could’ve gone for a whole episode on the League figuring out the protocols, too. Some Stray Thoughts:

Freydis would watch and enjoy this

I thought we all agreed that if we were adopting a change it was going to the be the “Beeboverse” ... which the special kind of confirms.

Man I love Cress Williams as Black Lightning so much and he plays REALLY well with Barry.

The way they forgot that Thawne wasn’t actually a Wells was ridiculous. But it makes sense to me that Thawne looks like Wells whenever he’s directly screwing with the heads of Barry or his relatives (and looks like himself when there isn’t a West to perform for).

Not from what I’ve seen. It’s clear they hate money.

Also, it was the late 70s and any flash in the pan that caught even a ripple of fame was given their own prime time variety special sponsored by All of the Cocaine. These things were a dime a dozen back then.

Okay but is there still really no official Beebo merch?

“If you were flipping through however many TV channels there were in 1978, when the Star Wars Holiday Special had its first and only airing, what would you have thought? Would you be confused by the celebrity cameos and musical numbers... ?”

I’m working on a crossover called Beebo Can F*** Himself

It was high time our one true blue god got the special he deserved. Praise Beebo and Merry Beebo day!

I wish that maybe the reveal could’ve surprised me but of course it was Thawne. It’s always Thawne. Dude has been all about fucking up Barry’s timeline since episode 1, “maybe it’s Thawne” should genuinely be everyone’s first reaction when coincidences start piling up.

Man, the League fought Faust at some point offscreen? I want that story!
