Plus, he’s a villain who takes the same approach to these time travel adventures as the heroes: it’s important work, sure, but also a great opportunity to just have fun.

“I, Ava” could end up being a reference to “I, Claudius” instead of “I, Robot”, though, and involve a return trip to Roman times.

Also, getting attached to seriously damaged guys is kinda Cupid’s whole schtick.

I like that, coming here from Team Flash, Nate has to explain to him, “We allow light to moderate theft on this ship.”

Okay, what do we all think is Ava’s secret?

That’d definitely be cause for breaking out the post-coital memory eraser.

And kinda nutty, too.

They could always claim that no one on the state or federal level wants to send Star City money, because it’ll all just get stolen, blown up, or leveled by an earthquake machine the next time a supervillain attacks.

My first thought when that video of Laurel withdrawing the money came up was that Ricardo Diaz had doctored some footage again to set people into conflict with each other. And Laurel, after hearing that they thought she had the money, played along because it was the only leverage she had.

Yeah, the first few seasons were MUCH better about actually allowing Oliver to do seriously questionable things and creating conflict based on that.

Something I may try doing at some point: rewatch this episode, but pretend I haven’t seen any episodes this season up to this point. Maybe if you ignore how completely unwarranted and hypocritical New Team Arrow’s behavior is as a response to past episodes and just focus on it in the moment, it would work better.

What about the people alleging that the Parkland school shooting survivors protesting for stronger gun control are really just paid actors? Or alleging that Barack Obama spied on Trump during his campaign?

I’ll tell ya, I liked this fella, Tio something or other, they had in ‘69, but they also had this Colonel Angus that left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Given he could play the fiddle after taking Izzy’s body, I’m guessing he also retains the memories and/or skills of the bodies he’s taken, which would include speech.

It’s not so much dumbing it down as just not using jargon. If you don’t read/watch much science fiction, you’ve likely never heard the term “pocket universe” before, and Caitlin’s initial description of it was (intentionally, on the part of the writers) the least layman-friendly way of doing so.

While it doesn’t necessarily apply to previous episodes, in this episode and future ones, anytime the heroes could have done something to stop DeVoe but don’t, you can chalk it up to him using Hazard’s luck altering powers to make sure people always take the least effective approach to fighting him.

That’s my thinking, too. Certainly, despite being in a rush to get a new body, he made no effort at getting Ralph this episode. My guess is that Ralph’s stretchiness will let his body handle all the strain DeVoe’s powers would put on it.

Do you think the backlash would be less or greater if they went the “history is changed so she was never born” route?

There’s tons of stuff in Legends that you’ll have trouble understanding if you don’t watch Arrow and The Flash; why shouldn’t Vixen be added to that list?

So . . . Mission: Just Like Every Other Mission, then?
