I’ve always felt quite strongly that pointing to the “other” - southerners - is a tried and true way to claim your anti-racist bona fides without actually confronting it in yourself or your community.

My understanding of hate crimes is that they are motivated at least in part by hatred for race, ethnicity, etc. It could be hard to prove that these stupid racist frat boys were motivated by racism when they went to the apartment and beat up the student. But they expressed racial hatred while committing a violent

OK Brits - I’ve listened to the BBC report on the “Texan city of Houston”. Texans are the people of Texas. Houston is a Texas city. And Maryland. It’s not Mary (had a little lamb) Land.

Someone with the power to ungray, please ungray ^

I understand the cultural and economic contributions of law-abiding undocumented workers that are here from Mexico and other Latin American countries, and I want the DACA kids to have a pathway to citizenship. But I have a serious question: how do we justify treating people from Mexico and Central America differently

After supper in the summer my folks and often some neighbor friends would sit out on the patio, and

Hard to be original when insulting people, huh? Back at ya, hypothetically speaking.

Spare me the outrage. Just try to write without gratuitous insults to working people just because of their job, even if it means you can’t retread something from someone else that was clever yesterday.

The magazine article shows him with a full head of gray hair. I don’t think toupees are allowed in prison. So he just took what would was one of his few gifts and messed it up with an unnatural dye job and a cut that a barber should have been fined for.

Or,”I didn’t actually get any dirt on Hillary from those Russians” as a defense for trying to get dirt on Hillary from Russians.

Not cool, indeed.

After we get older and adapt to rolling with the punches, we forget how those first losses and perceived failures can be so devastating to someone very young, that they can’t see a way out. We don’t know what happened in this case but it made me think of this story I read on BBC yesterday. Sometimes a young person

But said director found it morally reprehensible.

Rumor has it Bannon tried unsuccesfully to get his hip hop LA riot musical picked up by a famous director outside the US.

It’s not his fault! I was traumatized in grade school when I was given the class goldfish to take home for the holidays and it jumped out the first night. I found it dried out in the morning. My parents bought another one that looked similar, and we didn’t say anything. I was haunted by the ghost of that poor

Well there’s goldfish, but they have the distressing tendency to flop themselves out of their fishbowls...

Peppa Pig, did you think to ask me whether I wanted to be handled by children?
