Doesn't the consumer have a higher role in the gaming industry than a producer? Since they actually buy it?

Before people jump on "piracy kills the industry" boat. Ask yourself this: Would be gaming be this big if it wasn't for piracy? I remember that I never used to care about RPG's until I got pirated copy of FF7. I loved it soo much that I went out and bought it.

I really enjoyed the demo. But I really didn't like all the COD and Gears of War elements the devs added. It starts to feel similar which is not a good considering your playing a totally different game.
