Just goes to show you that realistic lighting is more important than realistic graphics.
Would honestly love to see this done with the original Thief: The Dark Project. The stealth system in that game is very light-dependent and would work great with ray tracing I reckon.
You’re probably right, but for my money (and when it comes to technical stuff, I am an ignoramus, so fair warning) the contrast between the super realistic lighting effects and the clunky old Doom graphics is a pretty cool look. I kind of want to see a retro Doom-clone style FPS come out with ray tracing effects and…
It’s almost like most things that once seemed important just do not fucking matter anymore. You know, because our world is dying and our neighbors’ true nature has been nakedly laid bare. Maybe they could implement a system were a dev can flag their game as short so if a player were to 100% a game it would no longer be available for refund.
You might be getting that feeling about their movement cause the studio is using a lot of Mocap, so what you’re getting is kind of the motion/animation equivalent of the uncanny valley. (realistic movement with very stylized character design.)
Something about the character faces and their movement gives me really unsettling vibes that I cannot put my finger on...
