That’s not what the article says at all. It says to wait to do side quests until the third part, when getting around is easier. Not that the game is bad at the beginning. Learn to read.

The article doesn’t say the game is bad in the first 10 hours. It says it’s not worth it to do side quests that early because you’re able to get around faster in the third part.
Take a minute and reflect on the bias in your comment. You completely disregard all the fantastical elements of Death Stranding and make it sound like a regular day as a UPS guy. The world-building in Death Stranding is many times deeper and more intricate than SotC. And it’s no slouch when it comes to atmosphere and…
Sounds like you haven’t even tried the game yet. I’m amazed at how many people seem to be getting fired up over someone else’s opinions when they can’t bother trying it themselves. I’m enjoying the story, presentation, and mechanics so far.
I’m in the opening episodes and really enjoying it so far. Not buying into the hivemind idea that the beginning sucks or that the gameplay is boring. I have to wonder if the people who are saying it’s boring also thought Shadow of the Colossus was garbage. This game seems to be about getting from point A to point B in…
It's great that the lack of accurate representation doesn't affect you. It affects plenty of other people, though, so if you don't mind, it's better to suit the people it does affect than the people who are apathetic.
“Please do all of the intellectual heavy lifting for me because I’m a privileged white person.” This is how the end of your comment reads.
Agreed, this is pretty much the same as Kojima saying that Quiet had to wear extremely skimpy clothes “for story reasons.” Utterly ridiculous.
Hey Allison! Instagram fan here. Looking forward to contributing my important perspective on your Takeout posts in this difficult time.
A trackball to control the tilt of the field, or to directly control the roll of the ball? It would be pretty epic with the latter, but it would be a different game—basically Marble Madness. I’m still holding out hope for a sequel to that.
I have soup as a meal all the time, so yes. It is a meal, not just because I say so, but because I do so.
So this is basically like The Leftovers: The Game. Now I understand why it has that girl from The Leftovers.
My mistake for using the brand name TRANSFORMERS® in a generic sense. What I meant was “transforming robots.” His comment would’ve also been perfectly suited as a top-level response to the article.
Did you mean to respond to me?
Legos work so well for transformers, it’s a no-brainer. I made a transforming mech or two of my own design when I was about 10, mostly inspired by Robotech and Xenogears. Wish I still had them!
I didn’t even consider googling, but good to know.
I could think of a bunch of reasons why they announced it on PC now as opposed to earlier. Two of the most obvious are 1) that they have no obligation to announce it earlier and hurt their PS4 preorders/console sales, and 2) that they could’ve just now guaranteed that they will be able to allocate the budget for work…
I think something close to the heart of this situation is that there are a lot of vociferous people in Japan (often in government) who reject any prior apologies, and nobody really cares that these people exist. If Japan denies the apologies, why shouldn’t Korea?
