On the other hand, when that's your entire filmography you could have done worse.

Is it fair to say that Mifune was so bad he didn't need color?

He's easily one of my favorite film composers.

I did not intend that at all. The idea was Mifune eats Norris for breakfast, and in powdered form no less. And Western culture is gonna need way more than Connery to counter Mifune.

Not to take away from the greatness of Nakadai's performance here, but Mifune really does steal the show in a big way. YOu can see it in Nakadai's eyes as Mifune chops down all those guys in the snow.

I'm assuming it's something Russ Meyer.

He's literally great in everything he was in. There is no wrong choice for "Nakadai's greatest role is ______"

I consider Mifune my favorite actor ever, but Nakadai is probably my second favorite Japanese actor (maybe third because Shimura) and probably still in my top 20. He really does have an incredible range. He couldn't be more terrifying in Sword of Doom, but couldn't be more tragically decent in Harakiri. And in

Would you prefer he played them all warm and fuzzy?

Have you seen Kill!? It's also directed by Okamoto, based on the same novel as Sanjuro, and it's pretty amazing. It's got a surf guitar score that sounds like Morricone mixed with Takemitsu and Nakadai is great in it. And it's got a ton of carnage.

In all the films Nakadai and Mifune appeared in together, Nakadai never beat him in a fight. That's because Mifune sprinkles powdered Chuck Norris on his waffles.

He's great in both, but I'd say Harakiri is his masterpiece as an actor. You can just feel that rage boiling inside of him.

I really wish Hark and Woo would kiss and make up and work together again. Because there are so many scenes in the films they made that could fit that description, including the entirety of A Better Tomorrow 2 (which I love, but other do not).

"Tsui Hark"

One of the many great moments in that show.

Barton Fink! Barton Fink!

Straightforward really isn't the word. Because it's just as confusing plot-wise. The language is less dense, but the story is (intentionally) a big ol knot.

Yeah, that's almost too much for one thing to have all of those.

"relatively straightforward"

He was easily my favorite thing about Watchmen.
