Why not copy clothing companies and put something like “assembled in United States from foreign materials?”

That was clearly a low budget job, which I guess worked out for the better. If BL had been willing to spend some real money, they would have redone the whole front end in black polyurethane.

I don’t know, I actually thing Citroen and/or DS might be a better option.

I think it had to do with the early adopters of EVs being the sort of people who really didn’t like cars and the whole concept of personal transportation to begin with, seeing it as essentially a necessary evil. A stylish car was vulgar, bland and boring was better, ugly was better still.

Historically, the Scrambler name started out as a performance trim level on the Rambler American, hence the “rambler” part, with considerable performance upgrades over the standard car. By the time the name got recycled for Jeep, it was pretty much a tape strip trim package, like what happened to most 1960s

You could always try to find a surplus one manufactured in April of 1994 or earlier.

Incidentally, the M715 is still in active military use by at least a few nations. Kia still builds them in South Korea as the KM450.

Along with many music artists, actors, painters, architects, industrialists, national leaders, etc. etc. etc. All humans have flaws and talents, some have ridiculous extremes of both. There’s a few that manage to escape the worst extremes, but not very many. I don’t know of anything horrible about Dr. Jonas Salk, for

Well, its the difference between living in a desirable area and a not-so-desirable area.

Not so much here, I looked into it. You’d spend $30-40k rehabbing a place that would be worth maybe $140k afterward. Not a great margin.

Were people really saying that? I thought the universal take was that this was going to be effectively a money printing press for FCA ever since they announced that Jeep was getting a pickup.

They probably could have kept it going even longer if they had invested in a new body shell in 1998 instead of facelifting the existing Mercury one.

FCA does very well in specific segments - full-size pickup tricks, retro style full-size coupes, minivans, and Jeep-branded anything. Possible honorable mention to full-size sedans.

It would be a borderline habitable fixer upper around me.

Will their powers allow them to make it permanently winter, so they always have snow plow piles in the mall parking lot to park on top of?

I put it down to supply and demand, the fact that there hasn’t been a real direct competitor to the Wrangler sold in this country in decades. If you want this style of vehicle, your choices pretty much come down to a new Wrangler or a used Wrangler. You get the former if your budget allows, the latter if it doesn’t.

No, you need surgery for that. Everything else is snake oil or a placebo, no matter what the salesman tells you.

I’ve been kind of wondering all along if maybe the SEC made Musk resign from the wrong position. Maybe he should still be the chairman of the board, and have hired a professional CEO to handle the day to day management of the company.

Step one: make a lot of rookie mistakes, piss people off, get forced out.

This is so hilariously blatant that it reads more like an urban legend than a real thing, but there it is. Don’t know why they have to hide being from Taiwan, either, all things being equal, I’d probably prefer buying from them vs. the other China.
