That's the way I've always done it. You get no flavor if you do it the other way. Though, sometimes I will just use half the packet because of the salt.

that's what I do. I don't eat it with the water. Okay...maybe a smidge of water at the bottom to keep it moist and get the flavor packet mixed.

That method is normally used for dry or so called mixed ramen. Never heard of that sprinkle method in Chinese or Japanese culture for soup ramen.

Can confirm, best way to eat it. My only other way was to actually boil the noodles with the flavor packet already in the water. That way you are eating flavor filled noodles in broth not just bland noodles in broth.
