Hey not all of us have fireplaces. And, it adds pleasant ambiance. If it's not your cup of holiday cheer, then may I suggest another cup for you... a steaming hot cup of "shut the fuck up."

People from Mexico City come to Houston?! I AM SHOCKED! (sarcasm, that's all sarcasm)

Had the same experience with our daughter. She didn't have any screen time at all until she turned two, then we let her watch half an hour of tv Saturday mornings. Her behaviour was noticeably shitty afterwards and we cut it out. Back to normal. We let her watch a movie once a week because she enjoys it so much,

We have the exact same problem with our 4-year-old. We decided just to cut tablet and TV time out all together. It has made a world of difference in his behavior.

I've seen something similar with both my boys (7 and 11). During the summer, we used to let them binge on games and TV as long as they were caught up on their chores. However, it quickly became apparent that it turned them into angry, bitter "drunks". We scaled back to 2 hours a day and it made a huge improvement in

"Diaspora is Decentralized! But don't worry! There are lots of other pods you can register at. You can also choose to set up your own pod if you'd like. Thanks to decentralized social networking, any person from any pod can communicate with one another!" - Isn't this just email?

I really know how you feel. I've been trying to get my 'good' friends on ADN for months now. Sadly, the truth is that a social network is really only usable if you can use it in a social way with a large number of people. That's why I'm still on Facebook.
But, I feel you.

Get at it, Whit... Oh, you need to stop using Linux by the way.

Seriously ? 50 stars? 66 Facebook Likes? I think Facebook's P.R. team or interns or whoever went a little overboard here. I've been poking around in other comment threads and I've yet to come across a comment with more Facebook likes than Kinja stars. doh!

Shame on you, obvious Facebook PR minion.

I'm on Diaspora. Alas, no one else I know is, and I never check it because there are never any posts from friends. By contrast, my business account on FB brings me in regular income every month. It's a numbers game.

While I agree - this is not helping the problem or topic at hand.
If someone is on fire, you don't tell them: "Oh well you could just stop being on fire". You put out the fire :P
