I think it’s actually pretty straightforward. For his entire adult life, he’s been surrounded by people who were dependent on him for their livelihood. No one he’s ever interacted with has had the cojones to disagree with him, lest they be cut off.

I can’t resist mentioning that the Darlene/Dom scenes blow the Bechdel test so far out of the water, you can start to imagine a time when it won’t even need to exist.

For what it’s worth, the script is out there online, and I really enjoyed reading it. The execution is something we’ll have to wait and see, but the source material was pretty damn entertaining. I'm going!
