9119lbs? Holy what the fuck.

Thank you. This confused me too. Let’s get rid of a car that maybe cost 30k to buy a different car for 30k is a weird way to save money.

Horse shit. 124 Abarth is the perfect road trip car for this dude. Just pack light enough, there’s that’s life lesson for you. I don’t even know how it makes any financial sense to fork out for something that’s $30k.

Everyone uses slaves so it’s ok if I do it is an interesting message.

Except the Japanese didn’t blatantly steal IP, didn’t use slave labor to make their cars, and as we saw- put a huge amount of emphasis in the long term durability of the cars themselves. There are many videos showing BYD’s randomly catching fire all over China so not sure we really “ need” these things.

Kind of hard to compete against BYD which pays its employees like $345 a month.  They are striking right now because they took away overtime hours which is the only way you can make enough to survive in China.  There are not many labor laws in place to protect workers and they literally use slave labor to produce

“Would consider” is definitely different than “want”.  I agree with you I think the sentiment is that people want cheaper EV’s and cars in general vs. actively wanting a Chinese made product.

They use literal slaves in the manufacturing of their EVs. You don’t think that’s a problem? Not buying a car because slaves built it is not the same as not buying a Japanese car because you fought a war against them.

While this is true, what is your point in relation to the article? Are you in favor of the unfettered capitalism (free trade) that would give us cheap Chinese cars. Or are you in favor of the tariffs (government intervention in industry is largely viewed as anti-capitalist) which would protect American workers from

and will not allow Western automakers to avoid restructuring to meet the challenge from lower cost Chinese manufacturers.

The other advantages China has are...

things that lasted longer than the confederacy:

That flag became popular after the 1948 election, when Dixiecrats used it to signal their opposition to civil rights. It has ALWAYS been racist.

Def would have fit in around NEW Marlborough, I can tell you that.  At least circa 1990s

Jefferson Davis and those who servered under him were about as far on the wrong side of history as any group ever until the Nazi’s came along.

Literally the roots of systemic racism... I remember back in 1993 visiting the Atlanta Zoo and going to the “Cylcorama” where I learned that the Civil War was really the “War of Northern Aggression” ! As a Northerner, I felt quite dirty after that hour or so presentation wherein the battle for Atlanta was sorta

Tesla isn’t a “Car company” it’s a “tech company” that makes cars.  P/E ratio is overvalued by a factor of 4-6 for an auto company.  Without Musk, Tesla looks like a car company, which means the stock drops by 75% or so.

Even traditional automakers have responded to market conditions with pricing changes, but they have been more masked by making “instant rebates” and discount financing options while the base prices of their cars remains constant. Its a minor difference really, but a pretty big one to the finance-ignorant masses.

Isn’t that what St. Louis malls are for? During Covid and at least a while after, Fords were stacked up at the mostly closed Mills Mall.
