For fun...this is my current repair bill on my 2021 RAM 2500 Mega Cab. Been waiting on parts for 6 months. SUPPOSED to finally go into the shop at the end of this month...

$6000 for a small impact is actually pretty close to par these days. My wife’s BWM was recently hit in a parking lot, and received good sized dents on front and rear driver side doors. Nothing else. No damage to the frame, trim or sensors, immors, just the fascia.  

You have to prove you’re 21 before buying alcohol. You have to prove who you are before signing some legal documents. Both activities are in place (and legal) to prove that you’re not engaging in a crime.

There’s no constitutional right to drive. You have to prove you have (at least decent) vision in order to be allowed to drive, after all.
