I live near SFBay and I think I’ve seen a new Z *once*. People drive tons of actual cars around here, and could easily afford these with the markups. I see Ferraris, Lamborghinis and McLarens more often then the new Z.

ah so he could definitely call his college girlfriend’s old phone number, at least!

These start new at ~$80K, so I’ll take my $78K and find a nice, used Ariel Atom if I want to kill myself in an insane vehicle.  At least the Atom has full air conditioning...

Such vehicles must be designed so that the engine would not start if the vehicle is fuelled with CO2-emitting petrol, under the draft rules, which could change before they are due to be published later this year.

This car will never be hydrogen powered since it would cause Hyundai to lose a shit ton of money on every car sold/leased.

If you go re-read my comment you’ll probably notice that I’m more concerned about these evil get away cars, and fully endorse carrying a handgun in your underwear so *anyone* can kill with impunity. At work, in school, in the bathroom, just blast away.... as long as it keeps these getaway cars* off the streets!

Yeah do ‘kids these days’ remember phone numbers anymore? At some point (pre smartphone?) you’d probaby know a friends number from the Air Force Base, then just call him and tell him to tell the MP’s or whatever emergency response team to send help.

1. Don’t buy the Volvo T8 without extended warranty. Not only is this car very much a highway cruiser (*NOT NIMBLE*), but it’s got an insanely complicated drivetrain with turbocharger, supercharger, and PHEV components. If something goes wrong with the drivetrain you’re going to be spending $5k+

At first I read “$2500 for thermostat replacment” and was like WTF!?? Now that I read your comment, I realize it included brakes (easily $1k at a dealer), tires (again easily $1000 for 4x), *and* the thermostat. The thermostat should absolutely not break in such a short amount of time, but he is just paying normal

If you just make handguns legal for everyone to carry, then the criminals don’t need to spend huge amounts of money on secret getaway cars. A ‘Murican will just pull the gun out of the wasteband of their tighty-whities, blow away the victim, and walk away. No vehicles necessary.

Pre covid you could buy tons of off-lease EV’s for under $20k. A Leaf with 50k miles was usually under $10k. E-golfs were easy to find at 15k.

Polestar, the Pontiac of Volvo. /s

unprecedented level of government intrusiveness

10 years late, 10x over budget, program will be run by politicians’ family members, built on purchased from a politician, etc...

Unfortunately the Joby aircraft :

Mandating a super cheap model is just as bad as an outright ban.

Obviously the driver might have been black, so the cop felt threatened.

I wonder if you would arrested for running over someone acting like this.

Yes, I worked fast food as a teenager. I realize it takes some level of people skills to interact with customers, especially at the level that Apple expects. It’s just that these types of jobs frequently just need ~2 hours of training vs. significantly more in manufacturing.

At least if the volume of oil pumped out of the ground drops a lot, then so will the net revenue of OPEC.  Prices may not get better for end users, but yearly profits will.
