1. I believe level 4 requires the autonomous vehicle to operate within a set of specified conditions and geographic areas that are defined by the vendor (example: Cruise running in SF at night). The vehicle *cannot* run in autonomous mode if these conditions are not met, but it must be able to come to a safe stop

You’re right -- I was saying Hellcat = Demon Engine, which is obviously not quite right!

You don’t need a drag race tuned V8 to cruise on the highway...

they hit every single capability of a level 4 aside from the requirement to be attentive and the location restrictions.

Next up from Dodge:

I got a (inflation adjusted to 2022) $7K Ford Escort as my first car when I was 16 yrs old. I drove about 15 miles (one way) to high school because my H.S. was basically in the opposite direction of where my parents worked. Getting that car allowed my parents to work full time and not start/end their day with a >1

EPA rated 14/18 mpg

When are they putting this engine in the GR86?  😀

I always like to run things through the inflation calculator:

Looks better than this Ferrari, too.

Where do you sign up for these last minute deals?  I guess most planes I fly on are too full for deals, though :(

or comforting to a NASA / private astronaut who may at some point be flying on one of these.

$10 for coach plus!? I just checked Delta for one flight and their ‘coach plus’ upgrade is $190, or ~15% of the ticket price.

Those guys on instagram are the 0.01% of Porsche owners who take their cars off road. I bet you’ll find as many Miata owners who go on Jeep-level trails as you do off-roading Porsches: I bet these guys use odd cars for camping and offroading just to get your attention and clicks.

I totally agree with what you’re doing and I think it’s a great reason to have a PHEV. I just don’t have faith that the average person actually gives a crap about proper plug usage.

How do you disable these damn Jalopnik autoplay videos?  Today I’m working from home, but I *DO NOT WANT* autoplay from Jalopnik, advertisers, or anyone else -- it’s a quick way to get a website into the ‘never visit from work’ list.

I wish people who cause horrible accidents like this were legally required to drive something with the weight and power of no more than a 1970 VW Beetle for the rest of their life. (When they get out of jail or a mental institution, that is.)

Counterpoint: I grew up with a friend who’s dad was a doctor for a mental hospital. (He wasn’t the psychologist-type doctor, just a general practitioner for treating the patients.) He is one the nicest, most sincere guys I’ve ever met.

So you’re proposing re-engineering a substantial part of the $43 Trillion residential property system in the US? Hope you got a few $10T’s lying around.

New screens require lots of engineering work, so they won’t add anything that isn’t easily available in the parts bin.
