How is carrying a gun going to help here? Going to pull it out and shoot out the Jeeps tires in the 3 seconds he has to react? If he’s got superhero-level shooting skills and makes the shot, he’ll then be guaranteed to be run over by an out-of-control jeep. If he had started waving a gun around while on the bike, then

I agree that Chinese companies will take a loss (i.e. dump product) to gain market share, but I bet it wouldn’t take congress long to stop this from happening in the automotive sector: D’s will protect the labor unions and R’s will protect the corporations.

I’m guessing if Polestar ever made a roadster that it would either cost >$150K and be a re-badged Lotus* or it would be be a heavy GT (~4500 lbs) by reusing a bunch of the Polestar2 parts.

Yeah maybe VinFast can get their rebadged last-gen BMW X5 with a GM V8 down below $20K!

A $12K car from china will never meet crash standards in the US. To get an idea of the minimum price for a new car, look at something like an early-90's Geo Metro. It was around $7400, which inflation-adjusts to $15.5K today. (Barring supply chain crap) you can buy a 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage for less than that already,

I know that cruises can totally suck, but this was the Walmart of cruise lines — they got what they paid for.

Yeah I get the feeling just from the small clip above that he should have taken over the *instant* it started to turn right. Instead, he intentionally drove into oncoming traffic to film his reaction for Youtube / Twitter / whatever.

I guess this guy has always been a complete asshole. I also guess he was probably smart enough, when he was younger, not to say things like this in public??

You are very confident and almost certainly very WRONG:

That’s the trick with neural networks — you got to tell them what’s truth to train them, and the primary way of defining the truth is to have people draw boxes on images (or the equivalent for non-camera sensors). Some people try to get a neural network to ‘teach itself’ with techniques like semi-supervised learning,

There are some positive points / rebuttals:

“Leather” is overrated. Most “leather” in vehicles is there for durability, not comfort. I say “Leather” because just about everyone with leather seating surfaces is actually sitting on some kind of polymer protective layer over the cow skin. The rest of people are sitting on pure synthetic polymer materials.

You beat me to it.  I also recommended the late-90's Buick Lesabre.

No the key here is to get the lower trim level, like on a Buick, with fabric seats. The friction with the fabric keeps you in place.

Yeah I wonder if it’s even been on a highway since the conversion.

I wonder if it had 180K miles before the conversion? Who drives 100K miles in a car with no roof and no storage?!?

Yeah it’s hard to compare horrible events, but this is right up there with a school shooting IMO. 50 people locked in a trailer and slowly cooked to death is damn close to how Nazi’s treated Jewish people as the came into concentration camps.

Looking at fuelly, the comparable(?) Park Avenue would probably get 3-4 mpg better due to it’s 3800 V6. Maybe it would be more accurate to compare with a DeVille, though?

Both Polestar and Volvo are divisions of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. They also own Smart, Lotus, and a few other Chinese-only brands.
